DR. JEREMY BECHELLI

The Bechelli Laboratory investigates how the Coltivirus Colorado tick fever virus (CTFV) interacts with host cells. CTFV causes an infection in humans called Colorado tick fever (CTF) that presents with high fever, chills, headache, body aches, and fatigue. In severe cases, CTFV can cause severe illness including aseptic meningitis, encephalitis, hemorrhagic fever, and death.

The goal of the Bechelli Lab is to further our understanding of innate immunity and endothelial cell pathobiology during CTFV infection  We are particularly interested in Coltivirus induced cell death mechanisms and the role of endothelium in the innate immune response.
